Description:

Ever looked at existing court websites? Yes, you are right! Most of them were created in the last century and are poorly managed, if they're managed at all. This session will walk you through the exercise that the members of the Intellaction Working Group on court websites of the Canadian Centre for Court Technology have achieved over the last year: review of existing court web sites, needs analysis and drafting of best practices for the development, implementation and maintenance of a court website.

Objectives:

  • Learn about developing websites.
  • Learn to use all the web has to offer.
  • Learn to maintain and improve your website in a cost-effective fashion.

Title: Information Visualization: The Theory and Practice of Intelligent Interface Design

How do people learn? How do the eyes and the brain search for and interpret information? How can the psychology of learning help us to design intelligent interfaces which quickly convey meaning to users? Did you know there is an entire field of study devoted to using psychology to design interfaces? The discipline is called information visualization. Join us for this session in which you will learn more about the theory and practice of information visualization.

Objective of Session:

  • To learn about information visualization as a field of study.
  • To learn about information visualization theories.
  • To hear about ways these theories have been put into practice in libraries and other virtual contexts.
